OH 14 v 7 Battersea Ironsides

I hope everyone has sunk their teeth into a fresh week.

Following a disappointing loss to Teddington in the last league game OHs mighty two’s (who very occasionally lose) got back to winning ways against a Battersea Ironsides team in a somewhat nervy encounter.

Having arrived in a changing room that I can only describe as being as spacious as a Moroccan jail cell, we trudged over fences and roads to the pitches. One man down due to Chris Bryant being late and drunk once again - if Johnny Depp played rugby, I imagine his behaviour would be similar.
A quick start was to follow with OHs top scorer Dylan Wallis reaping the rewards of a textbook line out drive to make the score 5-0, with the extras to swiftly follow. The game then descended into chaos with the next 20 minutes being a blur of dropped balls and missed opportunities.
To make the game more interesting we allowed Battersea to have a period of sustained pressure resulting in a try to level the scores.

Now into the second half, and with the introduction of MOTM Harry shields the game began to break up. I can only assume one of the following, his girlfriend was watching, he thought the game was being filmed or he’s very good at rugby… Harry was single handedly taking the lunch money of any Battersea player before him. It was off one of these carries that Dylan Wallis, running a line like that of a 2010 Chris Ashton, managed to gather an inside ball and scramble over making it 14-7.

Now into the dying embers of the match, OH were pushing hard for a try to take the game out of doubt. Knowing there would have to be a miracle for Chris Bryant to avoid a third consecutive DOTD, I took it upon myself to pick a delicious line of Cal with the white wash beckoning. However in pity of Mr Bryant I decided to refrain from using my hands and instead chested the ball over the dead ball line.
Luckily for yours truly, OH managed to hold on to a scrappy win. Rebuilding some much needed momentum before facing top of the table Old Ruts in a Fortnite.
What was to follow was a night of debauchery that is indicative of such a performance and that’s all i have to say about that.

MOTM: harry shields
DOTD: Will Barnes
