The OHRFC golf challenge trophy is open to both current and past players and this year will be held on Friday 15th November, it is very much an all-day event.

Since long before any of the current 2019 challengers were even a twinkle in their parents eyes, the OHRFC golf challenge trophy has had the names of many a OHRFC great engraved on its silver base. It has been won by props, second rows, lots of backs, but back rows have consistently dominated the engraving stakes over the years, much to the disappointment of many a skilful back. More 2s than 1s players have emerged victorious and surprisingly Welshmen have historically dominated. Quite a few South Africans have successfully won and defended their title, a couple of Scots, only ever one Kiwi, but never I believe an Australian, at least not in the last 25 years!

There are three historic trophies up for grabs, the men’s trophy (longest drive), the woman’s trophy (nearest the pin), and the open trophy which cannot be rightly claimed until an entire bottle of champagne is consumed from the cup of champions. The trophies are silver, genuinely valuable need to be looked-after once engraved and winners are expected to return the following year with their trophies polished (unless they want to be very heavily fined - friendly reminder there will not be a second one).

07:45 meet for bacon rolls at the Leatherhead Club Kingston Road Ashtead, Leatherhead KT22 0EE 18 holes followed by three-course lunch and festivities at Ruxley Lane.

A deposit will be required up front but approximate total cost for the day including alcohol will be £80.

Dress code: jacket and OH club tie, shirts should have long sleeves no button down collars and no pockets. If you don’t have a club tie then it is highly recommended to beg, borrow or steal one.
